On the 16th February, Rinse France celebrated its fourth anniversary at the original din of late-night allure, La Machine du Moulin Rouge- with DJ sets from homegrown tastemakers like Bambounou, Bamao Yendé and Orgasmic. At the head of this web radio revolution is Manaré – the 26-year-old taking the electronic dance scene online and reflecting the capital’s thriving urban music community.
The main objective was to create a platform to help highlight the French music scene.
It was really important to create a free space that wasn’t supported by advertising for key players inside and outside of the capital (Lyon, Nantes, Toulouse, Marseille…) We wanted to create something that spoke to the DJs & artists and they’d be proud to be associated with. After all, this radio station is all about community.
Apart from the age difference (4 years vs. 24!), each station is closely tied to the city it represents – Rinse FM London and Rinse France.
The partnership is really based on trust, we define and decide what best reflects France’s music scene and our UK counterparts offer the technological expertise – working hand in hand. Of course, it’s great to tap into their 24 years of success, too..
It would go against the philosophy of Rinse to condense the French music scene into only one style of music.
